December 06, 2006
Oct. 17, 2005 - Irish vocalist Michael Londra and Irish-based humanitarian organization Concern have released a new single, recorded to help in the fight against world hunger and in particular the work of Concern Worldwide US. Concern has over 3,500 personnel globally dedicated to the relief, assistance and advancement of people in the least developed areas of the world. With recent disasters in Niger (famine), Guatemala (hurricanes) and Pakistan and India (earthquakes), the need for organizations like Concern is more urgent than ever.Michael, former lead singer of Riverdance on Broadway and host of AccuRadio’s popular RadioCelt program, experienced Concern’s work firsthand on a visit with the group to Haiti. "While I was aghast at the conditions there, I was also inspired by Concern’s work and immediately asked myself what I could do," he says. The single, featuring Michael’s original Star of Cartagena as well as a version of Danny Boy, is a call to action as well as a message of hope.Available in select shops, through iTunes and on Concern’s website, the single is sponsored in part by Enterprise Ireland and The National Association of Celtic Buyers. Green Linnet is proud to also be involved in this project. For more, visit Concern’s site, or Michael’s site at www.michaellondra.com. For RadioCelt visit www.accuradio.com.
